Jamaica Park operations unaffected by small fire
Park operations unaffected due to quick response by Ocho Rios Fire Brigade
April 27, 2012, Miami, Florida – Rainforest Adventures, a collection of ecotourism parks and tours located throughout the Central American and Caribbean regions, confirmed today that a small fire on the night of Wednesday, April 26, 2012 damaged some of the bathrooms at their Mystic Mountain location in Jamaica.
The park remains fully operational.
“We are happy to report that no one was injured and the damage was limited to the bathrooms near the sales centre,” says Annika Bratt, vice president of sales and marketing. “Our first priorities are safety and conservation. We have determined that the fire did not affect park safety for our guests and had minimal impact on the rainforest. Due to smoke damage to the sales and administrative offices, we have temporarily moved our sales and administrative staff to other locations in the park as a precaution.”
Bratt credits the quick response of the Ocho Rios Fire Brigade for containing the damage saying, “We want to thank the Ocho Rios Fire Brigade and the community for their support and kind wishes.”
The fire is believed to have started in a composting station. The company will be investigating the source of the fire and making any required improvements.
