Lace Up Your Footwear and Explore the Natural Ecosystems of Rainforest Adventures Jamaica

Oct. 22, 2013, Miami, FL – Visitors can now explore the unique aspects of the ecosystem and wildlife habitats from a ground-level perspective with the opening of the new hiking trail at Mystic Mountain Rainforest Adventures in Ocho Rios, Jamaica.

For close to two decades, Rainforest Adventures parks have elevated guests to the canopy level with their tranopy experience, showcasing the unique flora and fauna that live among the broad leaves. The new half-mile nature trail at Mystic Mountain was constructed to mark the fifth anniversary of the Jamaica park location, allowing guests to explore the park’s inhabitants.

“Our new hiking trail was created to highlight the natural beauty of Jamaica” says Annika Bratt, vice president of sales for Rainforest Adventures. “The trail showcases the biodiversity of the area and allows our guests to get up close to the wildlife habitats that we are protecting.”

Jamaica is home to more than 3,000 different species of plants and tress, making it one of the most diverse ecosystems in the Caribbean. Visitors to Mystic Mountain will be able to see different varieties of orchids, ginger lilies, anthuriums and various trees that can only be found in Jamaica. In addition to the flora, visitors will witness a variety of hummingbirds (the country’s national bird), kingfishers, lizards, and mongoose.

Dedicated to ecotourism, the team at Rainforest Adventures Mystic Mountain Jamaica takes great care to preserve and protect the rainforest by closely observing government legislation and creating unique educational experiences to promote environmental consciousness and conserve at-risk natural resources.

In addition to the new hiking trail at Mystic Mountain, Rainforest Adventures parks in Costa Rica, St Lucia and Mexico offer similar experiences for guests. The Costa Rica Atlantic park, opened in 1994, offers the Coronito trekking tour which travels through the park, bordering Braulio Carrillo National Park. On the western side, the Costa Rica Pacific park near the beach town of Jaco provides visitors with an authentic bird watching experience as guests walk through the rainforest. In St Lucia, visitors can explore the Jacquot Trail, a three and half hour trek through the forest. And, Hidden Worlds Mexico, which entered the Rainforest Adventures family in 2012, is set to unveil sustainability improvements this fall, including industry leading Petzl zipline equipment.

Rainforest Adventures Panama Excursions provides guests with the opportunity to explore the cultural side of the small nation through their Embera Indian Village Tour. Here, visitors travel back more than 600 years to a Central America only few have had the privilege of experiencing. More than a tourist attraction in Panama, this tour takes visitors on a journey into the lives of the Embera Indian Tribe, one of the seven living Indian cultures of the country. The Embera Indians have been able to maintain their traditions and lifestyle as it was before the Spaniards colonized the region.
