Angels of the Forest
This unique initiative increases children’s interest in their communities by teaching them how to live in harmony with nature. Through environmental education, we aim to help future generations become more environmentally conscious, sensitive and friendly.
Five schools within the buffer zone of Braulio Carrillo National Park have become “guardians” of the forest, teaching children to respect and protect this important ecosystem. Students learn the values and ethics of sustainability, and in the process acquire the necessary tools and skills to live harmoniously with their environment.
High School Environmental Club Network
Using a fun, informal learning atmosphere, this program makes high school students passionate about environmental advocacy. Today, more than 250 students learn about a number of important issues facing the areas around Braulio Carrillo National Park, and work toward finding solutions. They learn the nuances of sustainable development and environmental protection, as well as the importance of the democratic process, peace, social justice and individual and collective responsibilities. In the end, students learn options to create a better quality of life.
As the program develops, our goal is to train leaders who will cultivate small rural businesses capable of generating jobs and making the environment a topic of concern and action for the community.
Sarapiquí Verde Program
This innovative program trains students in the Sarapiquí region to rethink the local sustainable-development model. Students, ages 11 to 17, participate in seminar-workshops and work sessions twice monthly for an entire year.
Every Tree Has an Angel
This program, following the motto “save, study and use,” strives to protect the environment, learn what is has to offer and strike a balance between human activities and nature.
Our daily activities are framed within the values of the local culture. In doing this, we ensure our environment continues to provide us with the necessary resources, in quality and quantity, to maintain and improve the quality of life in this part of Costa Rica.
